Microsoft has built the strangest Xbox ever made. The Xbox Series X-BITE is a fully working Xbox Series X console that has been swallowed whole by an alligator — a five-foot fabricated reptile with the console glowing inside its body, a bite-marked controller gripped between its jaws, and Xbox-green eyes staring out at the room. Only one exists in the world, and Microsoft is giving it away.
Revealed on 3 November 2026 in an Xbox Wire post titled “An Alligator Swallowed an XBOX Series X – You Can Win It”, the X-BITE is the latest in Microsoft’s long line of one-off custom consoles. But where past giveaways have dressed the console in themed paintwork, this one rebuilds the entire machine as a creature. “The idea is simple: an alligator swallowed an XBOX Series X whole. And yes, it still works,” Xbox said in the announcement. Its tagline for the stunt is even shorter: “Built to play. Not to pet.”
What Is the Xbox Series X-BITE?

The alligator measures more than five feet from snout to tail, and the Series X sits inside its body, visible through an illuminated Xbox Nexus — the sphere at the centre of Xbox’s branding — set into the creature’s torso. A custom Xbox Wireless Controller, sculpted with deep tooth impressions and textured bite marks, rests between the open jaws, as if the animal has just caught its prey mid-game.
The details go further than the silhouette. The alligator’s eyes carry Xbox-green irises with pupils shaped after the Nexus logo, and the scales, ridges and skin texture were modelled to look anatomically convincing. According to Xbox, the console inside is a functioning Series X, ready to play current titles — although the fine print on the same announcement adds that the finished piece is “best as display only”. A five-foot reptile, after all, does not slide neatly into the gap beside a television.
The announcement is careful on one point: the X-BITE is a custom fabrication, and no actual alligators were used or harmed in making it. It is a sculpture with a console inside, not a taxidermy project.
Built by the Creature Experts Behind Jurassic World

Xbox did not build the alligator in-house. The company partnered with John Nolan Studio, the creature animatronics specialists behind the practical creature effects in Jurassic World Dominion, The Witcher, and HBO’s forthcoming Harry Potter series. The studio brought the X-BITE to life through 3D modelling, sculpting and fabrication, turning a games console into something closer to a wildlife exhibit.
The choice of animal is no accident. Xbox says Florida supplied the inspiration — a state known for its wildlife and for stories that have to be seen to be believed — and the company says it is heading to Florida this November. Gaming outlets have been quick to connect the dots: the next Grand Theft Auto is set in a Florida-inspired state, and the X-BITE’s swamp-creature theme lands right in that territory. Xbox itself does not mention Grand Theft Auto in the announcement, but the timing has done the talking.
How to Enter — and the Catch for Fans in Pakistan

There is only one Series X-BITE, and one fan will win it through an official sweepstakes. The Xbox Series X-BITE Sweepstakes opened at 9:00 a.m. PT on 3 November 2026 and closes at 11:59 p.m. PT on 10 November 2026. Entry is free, with no purchase necessary, and works the same way on all three platforms: follow Xbox and repost the announcement with the hashtag #XbiteSweepstakes on X, Instagram or TikTok. The winner is picked by random draw and gets 48 hours to claim the prize.
Here is the catch for readers in Pakistan: the sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States, Washington DC and Puerto Rico aged 18 and over. Pakistani fans can admire the alligator, but they cannot enter the draw. GameSpot reports Microsoft values the prize at $800, while Destructoid puts the approximate retail value at $799 — either way, it is a standard Series X in priceless fancy dress. The full official rules are published at rules.xboxpromotions.com/xbite.
A Display Piece First, a Console Second

Microsoft is upfront that the X-BITE is a showpiece before it is a daily driver. The announcement gives no technical details on how the console is ventilated, how its ports are reached, or how discs would be inserted inside the sculpted body — and some outlets report the setup is effectively a digital-only experience. The winner gets a working Series X, but Xbox is pitching the whole package as an exhibition centrepiece first and a gaming machine second.
That has not stopped the internet from loving it. In a year of safe, predictable hardware revisions, a five-foot alligator with a console in its belly is the kind of stunt that gets shared — and that is exactly the point. Microsoft has turned a giveaway into a headline, and the headline into a Florida-themed tease for whatever comes next. The draw closes on 10 November. The alligator, presumably, is not in a hurry.
