Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 EV Launches in Pakistan Today: 528 km Range, 224 hp Electric Coupe

Mercedes-Benz is bringing its all-electric CLA 200 to Pakistan today, 6 November 2026, through local partner Shahnawaz (Pvt.) Limited, adding the German carmaker’s newest electric four-door coupe to the country’s growing luxury EV market. The launch event is expected to confirm the car’s local price and final specifications, which have not yet been officially announced.

The CLA 200 with EQ Technology is the entry point to Mercedes-Benz’s new electric CLA range, built on the company’s Modular Architecture (MMA) platform and running its in-house MB.OS software. Internationally it pairs a rear-mounted electric motor with a 58 kWh usable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, giving it a claimed range of up to 541 km on the WLTP test cycle — Pakistani launch reports quote up to 528 km. Either way, it is one of the longest-range electric cars in its class, and a statement of intent from Mercedes-Benz in a market where electric cars are still a small but fast-growing niche.

Performance: 224 hp, 0–100 km/h in 7.5 Seconds

The CLA 200’s single rear-mounted motor produces 224 hp (165 kW) and 335 Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels through a two-speed transmission — a first for a Mercedes-Benz production car. It reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 210 km/h.

Those numbers will not trouble a sports car, but they are not the point. The CLA 200 is built for efficiency: Mercedes-Benz quotes energy consumption of just 12.3 kWh per 100 km, among the lowest figures of any electric car on sale. The LFP battery chemistry also brings practical advantages — it contains no cobalt, nickel or manganese, tolerates repeated fast charging better than the nickel-based packs in the larger CLA models, and is cheaper to build, which is what makes the CLA 200 the range’s most affordable entry point.

Charging: 200 kW Fast Charging, 10–80% in About 20 Minutes

The CLA 200 runs on an 800-volt electrical architecture, the same technology Mercedes-Benz developed for its VISION EQXX concept car. That allows DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, taking the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes — actually quicker than the larger-battery CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4MATIC, which peak at 320 kW but take 22 minutes because their 85 kWh packs are bigger.

At home, an 11 kW AC wall box charges the car fully in about six and a half hours. For Pakistani buyers, the charging picture is improving: fast-charging stations are appearing along motorways and in major cities, and the government has been cutting duties on electric vehicles and charging equipment to encourage adoption. Even so, home charging will remain the practical option for most owners, and the CLA 200’s efficiency means a full charge goes a long way.

What It Costs in Pakistan — and What to Expect at the Launch

The one detail everyone is waiting for is the price. Shahnawaz has not yet confirmed what the CLA 200 will cost in Pakistan, and the launch event today is expected to settle it. For context, Mercedes-Benz Pakistan revised its electric-vehicle prices after the 2026–27 federal budget, listing the CLA 200 at Rs26.2 million, although that figure may change at today’s launch. In India, where the electric CLA launched in April 2026, the CLA 200 starts at about ₹56.5 lakh (roughly Rs18 million at current rates), while in Germany it starts at €49,421.

Whatever the final figure, the CLA 200 arrives as Pakistan’s luxury EV market gathers pace. Local assemblers and importers have launched a wave of affordable Chinese electric cars this year, and established brands are following: the CLA 200 gives Mercedes-Benz a modern, efficient electric sedan to compete with, rather than relying on converted petrol models. Inside, buyers get the new MB.OS infotainment system, a floating touchscreen, and the Level 2+ driver-assistance features — adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, emergency braking and a 360-degree camera — that are now standard across the range.

Why the CLA 200 Matters for Pakistan’s EV Market

The CLA 200 matters less as a single model than as a signal. Mercedes-Benz is one of the world’s most recognised car brands, and its decision to launch a purpose-built electric car in Pakistan — rather than a niche import — shows that the country’s EV market is now big enough for the major manufacturers to take seriously. The car itself is a strong package: genuine 500 km-plus range, fast charging, and the efficiency to make electric motoring practical on Pakistani roads and motorways.

The questions now are price and availability. If Shahnawaz prices the CLA 200 close to its post-budget list figure, it will sit well above the Chinese electric cars flooding the market, but buyers will be paying for the Mercedes-Benz badge, the build quality and the dealer network. The launch event today should answer the price question — and show whether Pakistan’s luxury buyers are ready to go electric.
