Abdul Hannan Live Tonight at World Culture Festival Karachi: 9 PM Concert at Arts Council

Karachi’s biggest cultural night of the week arrives tonight. Singer Abdul Hannan performs live at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi at 9:00 PM on Sunday, 8 November 2026, headlining day ten of the World Culture Festival Karachi 2026 — and for fans of Pakistan’s new wave of indie pop, it is the concert of the festival so far.

The show is part of the third edition of the World Culture Festival, a 25-day international celebration that opened on 29 October and runs until 22 November. Around 1,000 international artists from more than 150 countries are taking part alongside over 500 Pakistani artists, with theatre, music, dance, films and visual arts spread across the Arts Council’s halls. The festival is organised by the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, with the support of the Government of Sindh.

Hannan is one of the most streamed Pakistani voices of the past four years, and tonight’s concert puts one of the festival’s biggest local draws on its main stage. Here is what is happening tonight, how the festival has built up to it, and how to attend.

Tonight at the Arts Council

Abdul Hannan takes the stage at 9:00 PM tonight at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, on M.R. Kiyani Road near Saddar. The concert is listed on the festival’s published schedule as “Abdul Hannan Live”, and the Arts Council’s own announcement confirms the same date, time and venue.

Most festival events are free to attend, though online registration is generally required, and some special concerts are ticketed. Anyone planning to go should check the official Arts Council schedule before setting out, as timings and availability can change.

The Arts Council sits in the heart of the city, close to the Karachi Press Club and Saddar, and is reachable from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Malir, Korangi, Defence and Clifton by car, taxi or ride-hailing service.

A festival in full swing

Tonight’s concert follows a run of packed evenings at the festival. On Friday 6 November — day eight — the comedy play Ghun Chakkar, Tehrik-e-Niswan’s theatre production Manto Mera Dost and Ali Noor’s Pure Vibes concert drew houseful crowds, with the gates of one studio closed because of the turnout.

Day nine, on Saturday 7 November, featured the Balochi benju maestro Ustad Noor Bakhsh performing with the folk-rock band Khumariyaan at 8:30 PM. The festival’s programme continues after tonight, with Begum Jaan on 10 November, Burrnesha and Run Funda Run on 11 November and Princess Sunshine on 12 November, before the closing events on 22 November.

The scale of the event is what sets it apart: with artists from more than 150 countries, it is the largest gathering of international performers Karachi has hosted, and the Arts Council says around 97 to 98 per cent of its activities are free for the public.

From software engineer to streaming star

Abdul Hannan’s rise is one of the most unlikely stories in Pakistani music. A computer science graduate of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, he was working as a software engineer when he released his debut single, “Faaslay”, in 2020, recording music alongside a full-time coding job.

His breakthrough came in 2022, when two collaborations with producer Rovalio — “Bikhra” and “Iraaday” — turned him into a household name. “Bikhra” held the number one spot on Pakistan’s streaming charts for months, and the two songs dominated the country’s top charts for over 100 consecutive weeks. In December 2022, the then United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, included “Iraaday” on his official year-end Spotify playlist of favourite songs, bringing Hannan international attention.

His catalogue since then has stayed close to the romantic, atmospheric sound that made him famous: “Haaray” in 2021, “Siyah” in 2022 with producer Baig, and “Raabta” in 2023, reuniting him with Rovalio. In 2026 he released “Khasara”, a three-song conceptual EP featuring the title track with Samar Jafri alongside “Tu” and “Sila”. Fans at tonight’s concert can expect the songs that built his name — above all “Bikhra” and “Iraaday” — performed live in front of a home crowd.

Doors and registration details for tonight’s concert are set out on the Arts Council’s official festival schedule, and visitors are advised to confirm them there before travelling. Registration for most festival events is done online through the Arts Council’s website, and early arrival is wise: the festival’s recent big nights have filled up fast, and on day eight the organisers had to close studio gates when the crowds grew too large.

For Karachi’s music lovers, tonight is the festival’s headline moment so far — a singer who went from writing code to topping the charts, performing the songs that made him famous, live on the Arts Council stage. The show starts at 9:00 PM.
