Ramayana Part 1 Box Office: Saturday Bounce-Back Pushes 3-Day Total Past ₹182 Crore

The Ramayana Part 1 box office story changed completely in 24 hours. After a Friday dip that worried trade watchers, Nitesh Tiwari’s epic collected ₹69.80 crore net in India on Saturday — its biggest single day so far — and pushed its three-day India total to ₹182.70 crore. The worldwide gross after three days stands at ₹384 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk, putting the most expensive Indian film ever made firmly back on track for a huge Diwali weekend.

Saturday surge: Ramayana Part 1 box office jumps 45% on Day 3

Saturday was the film’s best day yet. The ₹69.80 crore net collection on Day 3 came from 23,696 shows across India at 41.3% occupancy, a jump of 45.3% over Friday’s ₹48.05 crore. The Hindi version did most of the heavy lifting with ₹53 crore from 19,927 shows, while Kannada added ₹6.30 crore, Telugu ₹6 crore, Tamil ₹2.50 crore and Malayalam ₹2 crore. The three-day India gross now stands at ₹218.25 crore. Day by day, the run so far reads: Thursday ₹64.85 crore, Friday ₹48.05 crore, Saturday ₹69.80 crore — a V-shaped recovery that few trade watchers predicted after the Friday fall.

Overseas triumph: Drishyam 3’s lifetime total passed in three days

The film’s overseas business has been even more remarkable. Ramayana collected ₹68.50 crore overseas on Saturday alone, taking its three-day overseas total to ₹165.75 crore. According to Bollywood Hungama, that means the film has already beaten the lifetime overseas collections of Drishyam 3 — the Ajay Devgn thriller that crossed ₹587 crore worldwide — in just three days, making Ramayana the second-biggest overseas grosser of 2026. Saturday’s overseas haul also beat the third-day overseas figures of Dhurandhar 2 (₹54.85 crore) and Jawan (₹50.72 crore), two of the biggest Indian hits of recent years.

A recovery after a softer-than-expected opening

The bounce-back matters because the opening itself had left questions. Ramayana’s first day delivered the biggest pre-Diwali opening in Hindi cinema history, breaking the record held by Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, which opened at ₹44 crore on Diwali day. But the ₹64.85 crore net was well below the ₹90–100 crore that trade projections had suggested after a record ₹50.08 crore of advance bookings, and the Hindi version’s ₹47.50 crore fell short of Ranbir Kapoor’s own Animal, which took ₹54.75 crore in Hindi on its first day in 2023. Friday’s 26% drop deepened the doubt. Saturday’s surge — driven by weekend audiences, strong word of mouth and the Diwali-eve holiday mood — has answered it for now. Trade trackers differ slightly on the exact figures: Bollywood Hungama puts Day 3 at ₹67.80 crore and the three-day India total at ₹176.11 crore, a little below Sacnilk’s numbers. All box office figures are trade estimates, not official studio numbers.

Diwali Sunday and the ₹4,000 crore question

The biggest test is still to come. Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November, and trade watchers expect another jump in collections, with Bollywood Hungama projecting a four-day Hindi weekend of around ₹170 crore. The stakes are enormous: Ramayana is reportedly being made on a combined budget of ₹4,000 crore across its two parts, with Part 2 due for release at Diwali 2028. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and released worldwide on 5 November in five languages. Fans in Pakistan followed the build-up closely, with a Karachi temple celebration held ahead of the worldwide release. If the Diwali Sunday numbers hold up, the film’s opening weekend will go down as one of the biggest in Indian cinema history — and the conversation will shift from whether it can recover its budget to how far it can go.
