Renowned actor Fawad Khan took centre stage in Islamabad on Saturday evening, hosting Teach For Pakistan’s fundraising gala ‘Pankh – The Power to Rise’ at the Serena Hotel. The evening brought together business leaders, diplomats and civil society figures in support of the non-profit’s mission to expand quality education for children in under-resourced communities across Pakistan.
The Fawad Khan Teach For Pakistan fundraiser was held with the sponsorship of Serena Hotels, and it carried a clear message from the stage: Pakistan’s classrooms need talented young leaders, and the country’s biggest stars are ready to stand behind them. Nearly 300 guests attended the event and pledged their support, with every rupee raised going directly to Teach For Pakistan’s Fellowship Programme.
A starry night at Serena Islamabad

The fundraiser, titled ‘Pankh – The Power to Rise’, was hosted by Fawad Khan, one of Pakistan’s most admired actors, whose public appearances are rare enough to make the evening a talking point in showbiz circles. Serena Hotels sponsored the event as part of its Public Diplomacy programme, which opens the hotel’s doors to causes shaping the country’s young talent.
Aziz Boolani, Chief Executive Officer of Serena Hotels, told the audience that Pakistan’s youth are the strongest ambassadors for the country’s growth. “Teach For Pakistan helps them realise that potential, and we are proud to stand with them,” he said, adding that through the programme Serena Hotels supports the causes that shape the young and talented people of Pakistan.
What Teach For Pakistan does

Teach For Pakistan is a non-profit organisation working to expand educational opportunities for children across the country. Every year, it recruits talented university graduates and young professionals and places them as Fellows in under-resourced schools for a two-year commitment.
Through that experience, Fellows become purpose-driven leaders who go on to drive lasting change in education, policy and social development. Beyond the classroom, the organisation’s growing alumni community continues to work collectively toward a more equitable and prosperous Pakistan, ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the chance to discover and realise their full potential.
Khadija Bakhtiar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Pakistan, said in her opening address that the alumni community’s work beyond the classroom is central to the organisation’s mission, as it keeps pushing toward a Pakistan where no child’s future is decided by where they were born.
Fawad Khan: ‘A conscious choice by the few and the brave’

Hosting the evening, Fawad Khan praised the Fellows who choose to teach in the country’s most under-resourced schools. He said the Teach For Pakistan Fellowship is a conscious choice by the few and the brave who place themselves within the ecosystem of inequity to understand and change it.
The actor said the public-private partnership behind the programme is producing real impact, transforming schools and closing the achievement gap for children from under-resourced communities. He urged the audience, and Pakistanis at home and abroad, to support the broader reform process and join the Teach For Pakistan movement for equity.
The Fawad Khan Teach For Pakistan appearance also underlined how the actor continues to lend his name to causes beyond the screen. He recently wrapped a mysterious new project alongside Kubra Khan, keeping fans guessing about his next on-screen outing, but on Saturday night his focus was firmly on the classroom.
Zeb Bangash’s performance and a night of pledges

The evening also featured a musical performance by renowned singer Zeb Bangash, whose soulful singing added a special touch to the gathering. Bangash said visiting a Teach For Pakistan school and witnessing the dedication and love of the Fellows for their students had truly moved her.
“Two years is not a long time, and yet, this organisation and everyone involved in it are changing the landscape of education in this country, and with it, the future of our children,” she said. “It is a wonderful initiative, and I am just so grateful to have been a part of it.”
The event was attended by nearly 300 leaders from the business community, the diplomatic corps and civil society, who pledged to support equitable education and leadership development. Organisers confirmed that 100 percent of the proceeds raised at the fundraiser will directly fund Teach For Pakistan’s Fellowship Programme.
For Teach For Pakistan, the night was about more than a single evening of fundraising. With Fawad Khan hosting, Zeb Bangash performing and a full house of supporters behind them, the ‘Pankh’ gala put the spotlight on a simple idea: that Pakistan’s future is built in its classrooms, and that the country’s most recognisable names are willing to help build it.
