The Pakistan Stock Exchange marked a historic milestone on Tuesday, holding a traditional Gong Ceremony to celebrate the Main Board debut of Ningbo Green Light Energy Limited (NGLEL) — the first company in Pakistan to go public through a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) transaction.
The listing completes a journey that market observers say opens an entirely new route for Pakistani businesses to raise public capital, and it puts the country’s fast-growing renewable energy sector in the national spotlight.
How Pakistan’s First SPAC Transaction Was Completed

The listing follows the successful business combination of LSE SPAC-I Limited — Pakistan’s first SPAC — with the solar energy company. The transaction was executed through a Scheme of Arrangement sanctioned by the Lahore High Court on 30 September 2026, and was structured and facilitated by LSE Capital.
A SPAC — often called a blank-cheque company — raises funds from investors first and then merges with a private business, offering an alternative path to a traditional initial public offering. Trading in LSE SPAC-I was suspended last month to clear the way for the merger, and its place on the exchange is now taken by NGLEL itself.
Aftab Ahmad Chaudhry, chief executive officer of LSE Capital, who spearheaded the introduction of the SPAC concept in Pakistan, said the listing validates the model. “When we first introduced the idea of SPACs in Pakistan, the objective was to create a credible, efficient pathway for businesses to enter the public market. Today, we are seeing that vision translate into a completed transaction,” he said, adding that the journey required considerable regulatory engagement, innovation and persistence.
Ningbo Green Light Energy: the Solar Firm Behind the Debut

NGLEL operates in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), system integration, and the operation and maintenance of solar power systems.
Muhammad Qasim, the company’s chief executive officer, said the listing goes well beyond a financial event. “For us, this listing is much more than a financial milestone. We have spent years building our capabilities, delivering projects and establishing our presence in Pakistan’s solar energy market. Becoming a publicly listed company gives us a stronger platform to pursue larger opportunities, expand our operations and build lasting value for our shareholders,” he said.
Cheng Quan, director technology at NGLEL, highlighted the company’s technical vision, noting that Pakistan has enormous solar potential — but unlocking it requires engineering expertise, reliable execution and solutions tailored to local conditions.
What the Landmark Means for Pakistan’s Capital Market

For the PSX, the development demonstrates how the SPAC framework can serve as an alternative route for promising businesses to access public capital markets.
Addressing the ceremony, PSX director Ahmed Chinoy called it a landmark achievement. “Today’s Gong Ceremony marks a landmark achievement for Pakistan’s capital market with the successful completion of the country’s first SPAC transaction,” he said.
Market observers say the successful debut establishes a precedent for future SPAC-led listings and could encourage other growth-stage companies to consider the SPAC route rather than a conventional IPO.
A New Chapter for Renewable Energy and Pak-China Cooperation

Chinoy added that NGLEL’s admission to the Main Board shows how innovative capital market structures can create new opportunities for growth-oriented companies. The listing is significant not only because it establishes a precedent for future SPAC-led transactions, but also because it supports Pakistan’s transition towards renewable energy and strengthens economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, he noted.
Pakistan’s solar sector has been one of the brightest spots in the economy in recent years, as high grid tariffs and falling equipment costs pushed households and businesses toward rooftop and commercial systems. The debut of a solar EPC company via the country’s first SPAC underlines how central renewable energy firms have become to investor attention.
Qasim said he took pride in being part of a transaction that has opened a new chapter for Pakistan’s capital market — and that the company would use its listed status to chase larger opportunities, expand its operations and build lasting shareholder value.
The Karachi Post reported the details of the ceremony.
