Gold Price in Pakistan Falls by Rs7,000 to Rs424,536 per Tola on Friday

Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a sharp fall on Friday, October 23, 2026, as the domestic bullion market tracked a steep decline in international rates. According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the gold price in Pakistan today dropped by Rs7,000 per tola, bringing 24-karat gold down to Rs424,536 per tola.

The fall is one of the biggest single-day corrections the local market has seen in recent weeks, and it pushed the gold price in Pakistan today further below the Rs430,000-per-tola mark. Market watchers say the slide mirrors the pressure building up in global bullion markets, where prices have been weakening for two straight sessions.

Gold Price in Pakistan Today: Latest Rates

The APGJSA’s daily bulletin put the new rates at the following levels for Friday:

Category New Rate Change
24-karat gold per tola Rs424,536 Down Rs7,000
24-karat gold per 10 grams Rs363,971 Down Rs6,001
24-karat gold per gram (approx.) Rs36,397 Down about Rs600
Silver per tola Rs5,865 Down Rs221
International gold per ounce $4,020 Down $70

The figures reflect the Karachi Sarafa Bazaar benchmark, from which jewellers across Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and other cities set their retail prices.

Second Straight Day of Declines

Friday’s fall followed a Rs3,000-per-tola decline on Thursday, when the gold price in Pakistan closed at Rs431,536. Taken together, the two sessions have wiped roughly Rs10,000 off the price of a tola of gold in just 48 hours.

Market trackers note that the downtrend has been building for about a week. Around mid-October, 24-karat gold was trading near Rs434,000 per tola, which means buyers paying Friday’s rate are getting gold nearly Rs10,000 cheaper per tola than they would have a week earlier.

Why Is the Gold Price in Pakistan Falling?

The decline is being driven mainly by international factors, bullion dealers say. On Friday, global gold prices slipped by $70 an ounce to $4,020, down from $4,090 the previous day. Local prices in Pakistan move closely with the international market, converted at the prevailing exchange rate.

Analysts point to a few forces weighing on gold. The US dollar has been recovering from recent lows, and a stronger dollar makes gold more expensive for buyers using other currencies, which cools demand. Markets are also pricing in a strong chance that the US Federal Reserve could raise interest rates in December, and higher rates make gold — which pays no interest — less attractive to hold. Reports of firm US economic data, including low jobless claims, have added to that view.

Geopolitical uncertainty and inflation concerns continue to swirl in the background, and those usually support gold. But for now, dealers say, the dollar and rate expectations are doing the heavy lifting, pushing prices down.

What the Drop Means for Buyers

For ordinary buyers, the falling gold price in Pakistan today brings some welcome relief. Gold jewellery is a fixture of weddings and family savings in Pakistan, and even a few thousand rupees’ difference per tola matters when buying bridal sets.

Jewellers advise buyers to still do their homework before purchasing. Check the purity marking on each item — 24-karat for bullion and investment pieces, 22-karat or 21-karat for most jewellery — confirm the exact weight, and ask the seller to show the day’s APGJSA rate and the making charges separately. Making charges vary from shop to shop and can add a meaningful amount on top of the metal price, so it pays to compare.

For investors, the dip may look like a buying opportunity, but dealers caution that gold remains volatile. Prices can swing quickly on international news, currency moves and central-bank signals, so anyone buying as an investment should keep an eye on the global trend rather than a single day’s fall.

How Gold Rates Are Set in Pakistan

The daily gold price in Pakistan is announced by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association, the trade body that represents jewellers across the country. Each day, the association fixes the benchmark rate for 24-karat gold per tola and per 10 grams, based on the international spot price and the open-market value of the US dollar.

Retail jewellers then price 22-karat, 21-karat and 18-karat items as fractions of the 24-karat benchmark. That is why the rates you see in shop windows move in lockstep with the APGJSA bulletin — and why a Rs7,000 fall in the headline rate brings down the price of every karat across the board.

Silver Follows Gold Lower

Silver prices also eased on Friday. The white metal lost Rs221 per tola to settle at Rs5,865, in line with the broader weakness in precious metals. Silver is often bought for smaller gifts and jewellery, and its lower price point makes it a popular alternative when gold feels out of reach.

With the US Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for late October and more economic data due in the coming weeks, dealers expect the market to stay choppy. For now, though, Friday’s bulletin is good news for anyone who has been waiting for gold to come down — the gold price in Pakistan today is the lowest it has been in weeks.

Rates reported are the APGJSA benchmark for 24-karat gold in Karachi; retail prices may vary slightly by city and shop.
