Spotify has switched on audiobooks for listeners in Pakistan, expanding its story-listening offering to the country on 4 November 2026. From today, Pakistani users can listen to audiobooks inside the same app they already use for music — stories, novels and non-fiction, playing right next to their playlists.
Access comes through Audiobooks+, a recurring monthly add-on available to both Free and Premium accounts in Pakistan. The add-on unlocks 15 hours of audiobook listening each billing month, according to reports published on Wednesday, with only the time actually spent listening counting towards the allowance.
How Audiobooks+ works — and what it costs

Audiobooks+ sits on top of a listener’s existing Spotify plan rather than replacing it. The monthly allowance resets with each billing cycle, so unused hours do not roll over to the next month. Listeners who finish their 15 hours early can buy extra time: a 10-hour top-up is reported at PKR 579.
The exact monthly price varies between reports. Several reports published on Wednesday list the add-on at PKR 489 a month for the 15-hour allowance. Another report, citing Spotify’s own Pakistan page, lists the add-on at Rs 379 a month with a one-month free trial for new subscribers — the free month applying only to new Audiobooks+ sign-ups, after which the monthly charge applies. Either way, the add-on is separate from the main subscription: Premium Individual in Pakistan already costs Rs 379 a month, so a Premium user adding audiobooks pays for the two plans together.
Some limits come with the fine print. Premium Student accounts get no included listening hours, and on Family and Duo plans the hours go to the plan manager only — the rest of the family members do not share them.
The global rollout behind the launch

Pakistan’s launch is part of one of the biggest expansions in Spotify’s history. The company announced at the Frankfurt Book Fair on 7 October 2026 that audiobooks would grow from 22 markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026, reaching over 750 million people. The expanded catalogue spans more than 350,000 titles in over 120 languages.
The model differs by region. In eligible Premium markets such as Italy, Spain, Brazil and Mexico, Premium subscribers get a set of monthly audiobook hours included with their plan. Across Africa and Asia — including Pakistan — Audiobooks+ is the primary way in, sold as a standalone monthly add-on, while listeners can also buy individual titles outright and keep them.
The product has already proved itself commercially: Spotify says Audiobooks+ has crossed one million subscribers and generated more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue within just over a year of its launch.
Why it matters for Pakistani listeners

This is the first time audiobooks have been available on Spotify in Pakistan. Until now, the country’s listeners were left out of the audiobook expansion entirely, despite having some of the most active music-streaming habits in the region — the Urdu-Punjabi track Alfaaz made headlines with Alfaaz’s record-breaking Spotify run into the platform’s Global Top 50.
The launch also deepens Spotify’s push to become more than a music player. The company has been steadily adding spoken-word content and new streaming features that are reshaping how listeners find songs — and audiobooks give it a direct answer to dedicated audiobook services, keeping listeners inside the Spotify app for longer.
For book lovers, the timing is friendly: if the free trial listed on the Pakistan page is honoured, new subscribers can test a full month of audiobook listening before paying anything.
How to get started

Pakistani users can add Audiobooks+ from inside their Spotify account settings on the app or the Spotify website. The monthly hours start with the billing cycle and reset each month, and only active listening time counts — pausing a book does not burn through the allowance.
Spotify has not announced a Pakistan-specific catalogue size or said how many titles are available in Urdu or other local languages, so local-language listeners may want to browse the library before committing. With over 350,000 titles in the global English-language catalogue alone, though, English readers will find plenty to start with from day one.
