Breaking Bad star Dean Norris is divorcing his wife of more than two decades, court records show, in a split that has laid bare serious financial troubles for the couple. The Dean Norris divorce became public this week after documents revealed that Bridget Norris filed to end the marriage in February 2025, while the restaurant the couple own together has entered bankruptcy protection and their California estate has gone up for sale. Norris, 63, played DEA agent Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad, one of the most acclaimed television dramas of all time. The disclosures arrive less than a month after the death of his former co-star R.J. Mitte, adding to a painful period for the actor.
News of the split spread quickly after TMZ obtained the court papers and Page Six reported the details on 4 November.
A marriage of more than 23 years
Dean Norris and Bridget Norris married on 27 October 2001. According to court documents reviewed by Page Six, Bridget filed a petition for dissolution of marriage in Riverside County, California, on 14 February 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. The petition lists 15 January 2025 as the couple’s date of separation, about a month before the filing. Norris submitted his response to the petition in May 2025.
The Dean Norris divorce has not yet been finalised. As of 5 November 2026, the Riverside County case remained open, with a hearing about a change in Norris’s legal counsel scheduled for January. The couple share five children, two of whom are still minors: Zoe, 17, and Dean, 16.
The filing was made quietly in February 2025 and only came to light this week, when the bankruptcy papers for the couple’s restaurant brought fresh attention to their finances. Neither Norris nor his representatives have been reported making any public comment on the divorce itself.
Swing Inn Cafe and the $1.8 million bankruptcy
Court papers published alongside news of the Dean Norris divorce show the financial pressure centres on Swing Inn Cafe, the historic restaurant in Temecula, California, which the couple bought in 2022. Its operating company, Main Street Eeeatary LLC, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 25 September 2026 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Riverside division. The case is registered as 6:26-bk-18050-EB.
The Swing Inn Cafe bankruptcy filing lists just $147,809.58 in assets against $1,811,598.46 in liabilities. In the paperwork, Norris stated that the restaurant’s gross revenue fell by about $1 million between 2024 and 2025, a decline he linked to fading social media attention after the early buzz around the couple’s purchase. The deadline for non-government creditors to file claims in the case is 4 December.
It is important to be clear about what the filing does and does not mean. The bankruptcy was filed by the company that operates the restaurant, not by Dean Norris personally, and it does not establish that the couple have lost the commercial property they bought. Chapter 11 is a restructuring process, and the restaurant has continued trading while the case moves forward.
For fans, the contrast is stark. Breaking Bad Dean Norris is remembered as Hank Schrader, the tough, funny and ultimately doomed DEA agent whose fate became one of the show’s defining moments. Off screen, the actor has spent the past few years as a small-town restaurateur in Temecula, a role he spoke about warmly in local interviews, including an appearance on Spectrum News on 2 November in which he discussed both the restaurant and his new book.
The $3.2 million Temecula estate goes up for sale
Alongside the Dean Norris divorce and the bankruptcy, the couple have put their family home on the market. The Dean Norris estate sale covers an 11-acre property in the hills above Temecula Valley, listed on 10 September 2026 for $3,199,267. TMZ reported the listing on 5 November, the same day the divorce news broke.
The estate includes a guesthouse and a four-stall horse barn, and the listing is being handled by Sherrie Snyder of Allison James Estates & Homes. Real estate records reviewed by TMZ show the couple bought the property in 2024 for $1.725 million. The restaurant and surrounding property were part of a real estate purchase reported to be worth around $6 million when the couple acquired Swing Inn Cafe in 2022.
The sale adds another public marker to a private unravelling. A home bought only two years ago, a restaurant in restructuring and a marriage of 23 years ending in court — all of it surfacing in the same week.
A difficult few weeks — and what comes next
The Dean Norris divorce news comes less than a month after the death of R.J. Mitte, his Breaking Bad co-star, who died on 12 October 2026 at the age of 34. His representatives confirmed that he died by suicide, according to the Associated Press. Mitte played Walter White Jr. in the series, and his death was widely mourned by cast members and fans.
Professionally, Norris has work on the way. The trailer for his new workplace comedy, Long Haired Businessmen, was released on 5 November, with the film available for digital purchase or rental from 17 November 2026. The 82-minute PG-13 film follows three middle managers fighting to keep their jobs after a corporate takeover, and co-stars Rhys Darby and Edi Patterson.
For now, the legal picture remains unresolved on every front. The divorce case is still open in Riverside County, the Swing Inn Cafe bankruptcy is working through the courts, and the Temecula estate remains listed for sale. The split is the latest in a run of showbiz stories making headlines this week, from Meera speaking about her sister Shaista Abbas’s cancer battle to Misbah Arshad representing Pakistan at Miss Universe 2026. Whether Norris addresses any of it directly remains to be seen, but the court records behind the Dean Norris divorce have already told most of the story.
