BPL 2026: Rajshahi Warriors Win Second Title After Final Win Over Chattogram
The BPL 2026 season, the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, ran from 26 December 2025 to 23 January 2026 and ended with Rajshahi Warriors winning their second title. The Warriors beat Chattogram Royals by 63 runs in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, avenging an earlier playoff defeat to the same opponents. The 2026 edition was played with a streamlined roster of six franchises after the Bangladesh Cricket Board disqualified teams that failed to submit the required documentation.
The six teams competing in the 2026 season were Noakhali Express, Dhaka Capitals, Chattogram Royals, Rajshahi Warriors, Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Titans. They played a double round-robin followed by a four-match playoff stage, with matches hosted at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The tournament overlapped with the BBL, SA20, Super Smash and ILT20, making it one of the busiest windows in franchise cricket.
BPL 2026 Final: Rajshahi’s Redemption Night
The final on 23 January 2026 was a redemption story for Rajshahi. After losing Qualifier 1 to Chattogram by six wickets, the Warriors bounced back by beating Sylhet Titans by 12 runs in Qualifier 2 to reach the decider. In the final, Rajshahi posted 174 for 4, with Tanzid Hasan scoring a century, before their bowlers skittled Chattogram for 111 in 17.5 overs. Binura Fernando took three wickets and Hasan Murad four as the Royals’ chase collapsed.
Tanzid Hasan was named Player of the Match for his final century, while Shoriful Islam was the Player of the Tournament with 26 wickets across the season. The final followed an electrifying opening ceremony at the Dhaka venue, and the season maintained strong viewership through platforms like T Sports and Nagorik TV despite an earlier cancellation of a grand opening ceremony over security concerns.
Season Format and Key Storylines
Rajshahi topped the league stage with 16 points from ten matches, with Chattogram finishing second — making the final a battle of the top two sides. The player auction took place on 30 November 2025.
For Pakistani fans, the tournament offered familiar faces — Sahibzada Farhan was part of the Rajshahi squad — and another data point in the busy winter franchise calendar. For more winter-league cricket, read our Big Bash 2026 review and our PSL 2026 review for the spring T20 picture.
