Government to Expand AI Training for Balochistan Youth, Startup Support Announced
PM Youth Programme chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has announced the government’s AI training Balochistan programme, a major push to bring artificial intelligence training, technical education and entrepreneurship support to the young people of the province, unveiled during a meeting with the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 20, 2026.
Speaking to the president and members of the business community at the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), the chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) said the government is committed to equipping young people in the province with marketable skills that lead to real economic independence. The announcement places AI training Balochistan-wide at the centre of the federal government’s youth development agenda.
The AI training Balochistan initiative will focus on practical, job-ready abilities — from artificial intelligence and modern technology to technical and vocational training — alongside business support programmes designed to turn young people into entrepreneurs rather than job seekers.
What the Balochistan AI Training Plan Covers
According to the announcement, the government plans to expand opportunities for Balochistan’s young people through structured programmes in artificial intelligence, modern technology and technical training, paired with dedicated business support. The goal, Khan said, is to give youth the tools to achieve economic independence while encouraging their participation in national development.
The push for AI training in Balochistan reflects how quickly the technology landscape is shifting. With artificial intelligence reshaping industries from software and freelancing to agriculture and manufacturing, the government argues that young Pakistanis — and particularly those in historically underserved regions — need early exposure to these tools to compete in the modern job market, in Pakistan and abroad.
QCCI to Drive Youth Entrepreneurship and Startups
A key feature of the plan is the direct involvement of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Khan said the chamber would be engaged to promote small businesses, startups and youth entrepreneurship across the province, effectively connecting government skills programmes with the private sector’s experience in building and scaling businesses.
The chamber’s engagement bridges the gap between training and the market. Young people gaining AI skills in Balochistan will need mentorship, business networks and access to finance to turn those skills into income — areas where the business community’s involvement can make a practical difference.

PPAF, BRSP and SMEDA Join the Initiative
To widen the programme’s reach, several major development organisations have been brought on board: the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).
Each partner brings a distinct strength. PPAF and BRSP have deep grassroots networks across Balochistan’s districts, which can help take training and support beyond Quetta to smaller towns and rural communities. SMEDA specialises in small-business development — exactly the expertise needed to support youth entrepreneurship in Balochistan once trainees are ready to start their own ventures.
Why Balochistan’s Youth Need Digital Skills Now
Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province by area, and its young population represents both an enormous opportunity and an urgent challenge. While the province is rich in natural resources, limited access to quality education and modern skills training has historically held back its youth from participating fully in the digital economy.
That is beginning to change. Freelancing platforms, remote work and AI-powered tools have lowered the barriers to entry: a young person in Quetta, Turbat or Gwadar with the right skills can now serve clients anywhere in the world. The AI training Balochistan programme is part of a broader national effort to ensure the benefits of the digital economy reach every province.
The announcement also builds on the PMYP’s recent track record in the province, which has included expanding the laptop quota for Balochistan’s students from 10,000 to 18,000 and launching AI and cybercrime courses in Quetta — steps that build the hardware and digital-literacy foundation on which advanced AI training can stand.
PM Youth Programme’s Growing Technology Focus
The Balochistan announcement fits a clear pattern: the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has been steadily increasing its emphasis on technology skills nationwide. In 2025 it launched a Specialized Digital Skills Training of Trainers Programme with NAVTTC, training 200 trainers in artificial intelligence, e-commerce, digital marketing and data analytics as a first phase.
By bringing AI training to Balochistan’s youth through the chamber of commerce and established development partners, the government is signalling that the province will not be left behind in the national AI push. For young people in Balochistan, the message is straightforward: the skills of the future are being brought to their doorstep — and the support system to turn those skills into businesses is being built alongside them.
