Fawad Khan 2026: Upcoming Dramas, Movies and News
Fawad Khan is keeping busier than he has in years in 2026, with a film nearly complete, two new commercial films in the works, Netflix’s first Pakistan original series and two drama projects moving through production. After a phase in which he juggled international projects, music television and local films, the star’s upcoming slate feels like the start of an exciting new chapter rather than a comeback.
Fawad Khan’s Upcoming Films: Neelofer and Two New Projects
Neelofer, the much-anticipated romantic film starring the actor alongside Mahira Khan and Madeeha Imam, is almost in its completion phase — he also serves as co-producer, with Adnan Rasool handling writing and direction. The film marks another collaboration of the beloved Humsafar duo and has been in production for years, making its final stage a significant milestone for fans.
Beyond Neelofer, the star has started work on two other films. He is teaming with Ayeza Khan for a feature directed by Nadeem Baig, and pairing with Iqra Aziz for an action film whose stacked cast includes Asif Raza Mir, Shamyl Khan and Farhan Tahir, with The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022) director Bilal Lashari appearing in an acting capacity. Both projects give two of Pakistan’s biggest television stars a chance to try something different as commercial cinema finds its way.
Drama and OTT Slate: Netflix, Shandur and The Prisoner
On streaming, the actor leads Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original series, alongside Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, Hania Aamir, Ahad Raza Mir, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Bilal Ashraf and Maya Ali — though the release date remains unclear. His streaming slate continues with Shandur, an upcoming drama series in post-production that reunites him with Sanam Saeed after Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012) and Barzakh (2024).
He is also attached to The Prisoner, a gritty 1990s crime-thriller series based on Omar Shahid Hamid’s bestselling novel, in which he is set to play DSP Akbar Khan — currently listed as being in pre-production. Albela Rahi, the long-discussed biopic of legendary Pakistani pop singer Alamgir, remains a less certain venture: the star has spoken positively about the script but acknowledged it has stalled after the original team moved on, leaving it in development. He made his Bollywood debut with Khoobsurat (2014), which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, followed by Kapoor & Sons (2016) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).
Known as one of Pakistan’s most private stars, he stays off social media, preferring in-person interaction with fans. He worries he would get addicted to the platforms, a stance that sets him apart from most of his peers.
From Entity to Humsafar: The Career So Far
His journey began in music as the lead vocalist of the rock band Entity, before acting took over. Humsafar (2011) opposite Mahira Khan turned him into a phenomenon, and Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012) with Sanam Saeed cemented his status as the defining male lead of Pakistani television’s golden era. He then conquered Bollywood with Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Recent years saw him experiment — judging Pepsi Battle of the Bands and Pakistan Idol, headlining the fantasy series Barzakh, and producing films. The 2026 slate, with its mix of commercial cinema, streaming prestige and television drama, looks like a deliberate consolidation: all the lessons of a decade applied at once.
