Benazir Taleemi Wazaif: Quarterly Education Stipends for Your Children — How Enrolment Works

Every parent wants the same simple thing: to see their child go to school, learn well, and build a better life. But for many families in Pakistan, the small daily costs of schooling — copies, uniforms, shoes and bus fare — can become so heavy that a child, very often a daughter, is taken out of class. The Benazir Taleemi Wazaif programme was made for exactly these families. It pays a regular education stipend for your children, so that money worries do not have to end their education. This guide explains, in simple and clear words, who can join, how much is paid, and the exact steps for enrolment.

What Is Benazir Taleemi Wazaif?

Benazir Taleemi Wazaif is the education stipend programme of the Benazir Income Support Programme, which most people know as BISP. Under this programme, BISP pays a cash stipend every quarter, which means once every three months, for each enrolled child of a mother who is a Benazir Kafaalat beneficiary.

Please understand one important point clearly. Taleemi Wazaif is separate from the mother’s Kafaalat payment, and it is paid on top of it. It does not replace Kafaalat, and joining it does not reduce the mother’s own payment in any way. It is extra support, given for one clear purpose: to help poor families keep their children, especially their daughters, in school.

There is also good news about timing. Enrolment is open throughout the year. There is no single annual deadline that you can miss forever. Registration is done in person, at the nearest BISP tehsil office or at a BISP enrolment camp, and it is completely free.

Who Can Enrol?

The rules are straightforward. A child can be enrolled if the mother is an active Benazir Kafaalat beneficiary, and the child is enrolled in a school or college. The child’s age must also fit the level of study, as explained below.

  • Primary level: children aged 4 to 12 years
  • Secondary level: children aged 8 to 18 years
  • Higher secondary level: children aged 13 to 22 years

If you receive Kafaalat, your child studies in a school or college, and your child’s age fits the right band, this programme is meant for your family. Do not assume you are not eligible without checking — the simple ways to check are explained below, and they cost nothing.

How Much Will Your Child Receive?

The amounts below are BISP’s current published quarterly rates. Please treat them as the current published rates, and confirm the latest figures through 8171 before relying on them, because BISP revises its rates from time to time.

  • Primary, classes 1 to 5: boys Rs 2,500 per quarter, girls Rs 3,000 per quarter
  • Secondary, classes 6 to 10: boys Rs 3,500 per quarter, girls Rs 4,000 per quarter
  • Higher secondary, classes 11 to 12: boys Rs 4,500 per quarter, girls Rs 5,000 per quarter

You will notice that girls receive more than boys at every level. This is done on purpose. When money is short, families sometimes feel pressure to take daughters out of school first, so this extra amount is an encouragement to keep daughters studying, just like sons. There is also a one-time bonus of Rs 3,000 for a girl who completes primary school, which is one more reason to celebrate her hard work and help her move forward.

The stipend is paid for every enrolled child, not just one child in the family.

The One Condition: 70% Attendance

There is one condition that keeps the payments going, and every mother should know it clearly. Your child must maintain at least 70% attendance at school in every quarter. The school keeps a record of attendance, and BISP checks this record.

If your child’s attendance falls below 70% in any quarter, that quarter’s stipend stops. This rule is not there to punish families. It is there because the whole purpose of this money is education, and the money can only help if the child is actually in class, learning. So please send your child to school regularly, and tell the school if your child is ill. Regular attendance protects both your child’s learning and your family’s stipend.

How to Enrol: Step by Step

Please read these steps slowly before you go, so that you take the right documents with you and save yourself a second trip.

  • Step 1: The mother visits the nearest BISP tehsil office. She should take her own CNIC, her BISP-registered mobile number, and the child’s NADRA B-Form.
  • Step 2: BISP staff verify the documents and issue an enrolment slip for the child.
  • Step 3: Take the slip to your child’s school. The school will fill in the child’s name, class and school details, and then stamp and sign the slip.
  • Step 4: Take the completed slip back to the BISP office and hand it in.
  • Step 5: After verification, your child is added to the programme, and the stipends are paid quarterly to the mother.

That is all. There is no difficult form to fill in alone at home, and BISP office staff are there to guide you.

How to Check Your Eligibility, and a Warning About Fraud

You can check your eligibility and payment status in simple ways. Send your CNIC number by SMS to 8171, or use the official 8171 web portal. If you need to speak to a person, BISP’s toll-free helpline is 0800-26477, and calling this number costs nothing.

Please also protect yourself and your family from fraud. 8171 is BISP’s only official SMS number. If you receive a message from any other number, asking you for money or a code in the name of BISP, it is a scam. Do not reply to it, and do not pay anything. Nobody is allowed to charge any fee for Taleemi Wazaif enrolment. Registration is free, and this stipend is your right.

Your child’s education is a gift nobody can take away. If you receive Benazir Kafaalat and your children are in school, please do not delay: visit your nearest BISP tehsil office and complete this simple enrolment. For official information, visit the official BISP website. We wish you and your children every success.
