AshreiTech Invests in Digit Labs: US Private Equity Firm’s First Pakistan Bet on Cybersecurity
KARACHI: AshreiTech, a US-based private equity firm, has announced a strategic investment in Digit Labs, one of Pakistan’s leading cybersecurity companies, marking the firm’s first-ever transaction in Pakistan and a fresh vote of confidence in the country’s growing technology sector. The AshreiTech Digit Labs investment was announced in Karachi on October 19, 2026.
The deal brings additional capital, strategic backing and broader market access to Digit Labs — also known as Di8it — as the cybersecurity specialist looks to accelerate its growth across Pakistan and international markets. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the companies described a long-term commitment to strengthening enterprise cyber defence in the region.
The AshreiTech Digit Labs investment comes as Pakistani banks, government institutions and telecom operators expand their digital capabilities while facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. For AshreiTech, it adds an established cybersecurity organisation to its technology portfolio and reinforces its strategy of backing innovative businesses in emerging markets.
First Pakistan Transaction for AshreiTech
The AshreiTech Digit Labs investment is significant because it represents the American private equity firm’s first transaction in Pakistan — an important milestone in its expansion beyond its established presence in the United States. The firm’s decision to enter the Pakistani market through the cybersecurity sector, rather than fintech or e-commerce, underlines where it sees the strongest growth potential.
Rahim Iqbal, General Partner at AshreiTech, said Pakistan’s digital economy continues to grow rapidly alongside increasing demand for advanced cyber defence capabilities. He added that the company believes Digit Labs possesses both the engineering expertise and the customer trust required to expand its market presence.
Who Is Digit Labs?
Founded in 2015, Digit Labs — operating under the brand name Di8it — provides offensive and defensive security services, cybersecurity advisory, managed security offerings and security solutions to banks, government institutions, telecommunications operators and enterprises in highly regulated industries. The AshreiTech Digit Labs investment will help the company scale these offerings to a wider customer base.
The company has built its reputation on penetration testing, security assessments and managed defence operations, and has moved more recently into agentic Security Operations Centre (SOC) and agentic Managed Extended Detection and Response (MXDR) services — a direction that aligns with the global shift towards AI-assisted cyber defence.
Abbas Rajani, Chief Executive Officer of Digit Labs, described the investment as a strong endorsement of the company’s progress since its establishment in 2015. He said the partnership provides the resources and broader market reach needed to protect more organisations across Pakistan while supporting the next phase of the company’s development.
Why Cybersecurity Investment in Pakistan Is Growing
The AshreiTech Digit Labs investment reflects a broader trend: demand for enterprise-grade security solutions in Pakistan continues to rise across banking, government, telecommunications and other highly regulated industries. As organisations advance digital transformation initiatives, spending on cybersecurity solutions is increasing in response to evolving cyber risks.
Industry observers note that local cybersecurity providers with proven technical capabilities are particularly well placed, combining international-standard expertise with an understanding of Pakistan’s regulatory environment. The entry of a US private equity firm into this space is expected to draw further attention from international investors watching Pakistan’s technology sector.
“This partnership will not only strengthen our position in the cybersecurity sector but also contribute to the overall digital economy of Pakistan,” a Digit Labs spokesperson said, adding that the collaboration is expected to improve the security posture of various industries and foster trust in digital transactions and online activities.
What Happens Next
With AshreiTech strengthening its presence in Pakistan through this first investment and Digit Labs expanding its capabilities with additional strategic support, the AshreiTech Digit Labs investment reflects continued momentum in Pakistan’s cybersecurity ecosystem. Both companies plan to initiate a series of collaborative projects aimed at developing cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies, and they are also expected to engage with government bodies to promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices across the nation.
For Digit Labs, the deal means strategic backing and broader market access to support business expansion while continuing to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities for enterprise customers. For AshreiTech, the AshreiTech Digit Labs investment is the first step in a Pakistani expansion strategy focused on building, acquiring and scaling companies across multiple industries — with the cybersecurity sector as the opening move.
As the global cybersecurity market continues to grow, Pakistan’s involvement in this sector could attract further investments and innovations, positioning the country not just as a technology adopter but as a contributor to regional cyber defence. The deal may well open Pakistan’s cybersecurity industry to serious international capital.
