Pakistani digital creator Rajab Butt has sent a defamation notice to his former wife, Emaan Fatima, in the latest twist in the couple’s highly public legal dispute. The development emerged after Emaan’s lawyer revealed that Rajab had sent another legal notice to his ex-wife, accusing her of attempting to damage his reputation through her social media activity.
Rajab Butt is among Pakistan’s most followed digital creators, with around nine million subscribers on YouTube, more than three million followers on Instagram and approximately one million followers on TikTok. His personal life and various controversies have frequently attracted intense public scrutiny alongside his popularity.
What the Defamation Notice Alleges
According to Emaan Asad’s lawyer, Rajab Butt issued the defamation notice through his legal representative, accusing Emaan of deliberately targeting him through comments, reels and videos shared on social media platforms, Minute Mirror reported.
The lawyer further stated that the allegations made in the notice were not accompanied by supporting evidence. According to him, Emaan’s legal team responded to the notice and requested Rajab’s side to provide proof of the claims so that the allegations could be properly understood and assessed.
Emaan Fatima’s Lawyer Responds to the Notice
Emaan’s lawyer expressed concern over the nature of the notice, suggesting that it appeared intended to put pressure on or harass his client rather than resolve the matter through proper legal proceedings. The lawyer shared details of the notice publicly, claiming that Rajab had accused Emaan of deliberately targeting him through her social media activity.
The legal team has formally responded to the notice and sought evidence supporting the allegations. The back-and-forth between the two legal teams continues to play out in public, with social media users offering mixed reactions — some criticising the escalation while others urged both sides to address the matter through proper legal channels.
The Parallel Maintenance and Dowry Case in Court
The defamation notice comes alongside a separate legal battle in the guardian court. Emaan Fatima filed a petition seeking Rs700,000 in monthly maintenance and the return of dowry worth Rs8.792 million, ARY News reported.
According to the details in the petition, the applicant sought Rs500,000 per month for their son, Kivan, and Rs200,000 for herself. She alleged that Rajab Butt expelled her from the house a few months after their marriage and sent her a divorce notice, though the divorce has not yet taken effect. The court issued a notice to Rajab Butt and sought his response by October 23.
How the Rajab Butt Marriage Controversy Unfolded
Rajab Butt married Emaan Fatima in 2024 in a wedding that went viral on social media. The marriage ran into trouble after social media figure Aon Sheikh publicly accused Butt of cheating on Emaan while she was pregnant. The couple became parents to their son Kivan Sultan in September 2025.
Butt then announced during a podcast appearance that he intended to end the marriage and send Emaan a divorce notice. She shared the notice on her Instagram story with a caption describing the toll the situation had taken on her and their son. In July 2026, Aon Sheikh claimed the two sides had reconciled, but Butt dismissed the claim during a TikTok Live session, saying the divorce was final and he considered the matter closed.
What Happens Next in the Legal Dispute
With the guardian court proceedings underway and the defamation notice now in play, the couple’s dispute has entered a complex new legal phase. The family court will determine the issues of maintenance and dowry, while the defamation claims will be tested against the evidence each side presents.
The dispute continues to draw significant public attention because of Rajab Butt’s massive social media following. For now, both matters — the maintenance petition and the defamation notice — remain before the courts, with the next hearing dates expected to bring further developments in one of Pakistan’s most watched celebrity legal battles.
