Usman Khalid Butt: Biography, Dramas and Latest News

The Usman Khalid Butt biography (often spelled Osman Khalid Butt) is the story of a true multi-hyphenate — actor, writer, choreographer and theatre artist. He is one of the few Pakistani celebrities who has succeeded in front of the camera, behind it, and on the dance floor. As of October 2026, he remains a beloved figure in Pakistani entertainment, known as much for his wit and warmth as for his performances.

Born on 9 February 1986 in Islamabad, he grew up in the capital’s close-knit artistic community. He started his career at a young age, realizing early that he was born to be an artist. Standing around 6 feet 1 inch tall, he first trained in dance and theatre before television, and dance — by his own account — came before acting and before anything else.

Usman Khalid Butt: Famous Dramas and TV Career

The television career of Butt began with Durr-e-Shehwar (2012) and Aik Nayee Cinderella (2012), followed by the charming romantic comedy Aunn Zara (2013). But it was Diyar-e-Dil (2015) that made Butt a star, playing Wali Suhaib Khan opposite Maya Ali. Their chemistry was so loved that fans dubbed them “Osmaya,” and his performance earned a Lux Style Award nomination for Best Television Actor. He then appeared in Sanam (2016), Munkir (2017), and as Shehryar in Saba Qamar’s Baaghi (2017), a role that showed his range in a serious social drama.

Butt continued with Surkh Chandni (2019–20), the blockbuster Ehd-e-Wafa (2019–20) as the mischievous Malik Shahzain, and a cameo in Alif. His comedic timing shone in the Ramadan hit Chupke Chupke (2021) as Faaz Ibrahim, and he later appeared in Kaala Doriya (2022) and the horror anthology Siyaah series (2023). Though Butt is not seen on TV as often as some of his peers, whenever he appears, he performs exceptionally well.

Butt Films and Writing Career

The film work of Butt includes acting in Zibahkhana (2007) and Slackistan (2010), writing the horror film Siyaah (2013) and the romantic comedy Janaan (2016), and starring as Bilal in Balu Mahi (2017), which earned him a Lux Style Award nomination for Best Film Actor. He played Rohail Khan in Baaji (2019), wrote the lyrics for Laal Kabootar (2019), and choreographed the hit song “Billo Hai” for Parchi (2018) and dances for Heer Maan Ja (2019). His web series work includes Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam on ZEE5 (2021). Few artists in Pakistan have such a diverse portfolio.

Butt Latest News and Personal Life

The latest Butt news keeps his fans entertained. He recently returned to the stage after three years with the documentary play SEVEN, a production about women’s rights activists that included the story of Mukhtara Mai, showing his commitment to theatre and social causes. Butt remains one of the few in his Islamabad showbiz circle who is unmarried, and he handles the constant marriage questions with humour — recently telling a talk show that he is not getting married because he is not even trying, describing himself as a non-conformist who lives life his own way.

Known as the “Mehndi Man” among friends for his dancing, Butt is also celebrated for his loyalty to friends and family.
