The Tiger Shroff firing case took a decisive turn on Monday as three suspects detained in Rajasthan’s Kota city were sent to 48-hour transit remand, handing the Mumbai Police custody of the men accused of opening fire on the Bollywood actor’s car in Juhu a day earlier. The Tiger Shroff firing took place at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area, as the actor was leaving in his car after playing football. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg, three unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle and two of them opened fire on the actor’s car before fleeing the scene. Reports indicate that five to six rounds were fired at close range.

A video of the incident, captured by bystanders and widely circulated on social media, shows gunshots being fired at the actor’s car on a busy Sunday evening, sending onlookers running for cover. The 36-year-old actor, son of veteran star Jackie Shroff, escaped unhurt. However, his driver, Firdaus, suffered an injury to his left hand, while a bystander identified as Mr. Chauhan was also injured. Both were taken to a local hospital, and the driver was later admitted to Nanavati Hospital for treatment.

Mumbai Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene the same night, and the Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the probe into the Tiger Shroff firing, with investigators reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

The Bishnoi gang claim: “not heeding warnings”

Shortly after the Tiger Shroff firing, a social media post in the names of Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu — alleged operatives of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang — claimed responsibility for the attack. According to media reports, the post stated that the actor was targeted for not heeding the gang’s warnings and for working with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The message also carried a warning to other film personalities who collaborate with Khan.

Mumbai Police have not confirmed the authenticity of the claim. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg declined to comment on the social media post, and police said the involvement of the alleged gang in the attack has not yet been established. The police have also noted that there was no earlier complaint of any threat to Tiger Shroff.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, while responding to questions about the gang’s claim, said, “Whichever gang might be responsible for it, we will not leave them.” He recalled that the Mumbai Police had reined in gang violence in the 1990s and would not tolerate the handiwork of any gangs now.

In a swift inter-state operation, the police detained three suspects in connection with the Tiger Shroff firing from the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express at Kota in Rajasthan, within 15 hours of the incident. The operation involved 20 special teams of the Mumbai Crime Branch, with technical and operational assistance from the Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan police forces.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, DCP Raj Tilak Roshan said two of the accused are from Haryana and one is from Bihar. Two of them were identified as Ritik, from Bihar, and Rehan, from Haryana; the third is said to be a minor, whose identity is being ascertained. One accused is 18 years old and the other two are 22, according to police. The motorcycle used in the attack was recovered from Mumbai’s Andheri area, though no weapon was recovered from the suspects.

A special Mumbai Crime Branch team has taken custody of all three Tiger Shroff firing suspects from the Rajasthan Police and is bringing them to Mumbai for interrogation. DCP Roshan said the motive behind the firing has not yet been ascertained and will be established after interrogating the suspects.

On Monday evening, the three accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case were produced before a judge at his residence in Mumbai and sent to 48-hour transit remand with the Mumbai Police, according to agency reports. The case has been transferred to Mumbai, where investigators are expected to question the suspects about the attack’s planning, their alleged handlers and any link to organised crime networks.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that the suspects had been identified and would be arrested soon, adding that the police would also track down their handlers, who he said were hiding and issuing instructions from elsewhere. “We have taken this matter very seriously. It is a grave and condemnable incident,” Fadnavis said, adding that the state would coordinate with other states and seek the Centre’s assistance to track down those operating from abroad.

Chief Minister Fadnavis called Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and directed him to probe the case swiftly and take strict action against the perpetrators.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Tiger Shroff after the incident. According to the news agency ANI, Shinde said the actor has injuries on his left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass, and that both he and his mother are quite shaken. “I met with the actor… No form of threat will be tolerated in Mumbai,” Shinde said, adding that the state government stands firmly with the actor and his family.

Speaking to The Hindu earlier, Shinde had said the police would “respond to the shooters in their own language” and that the government would review security arrangements for celebrities, noting that actors had faced threats and intimidation over the past few months. Veteran actor Deepak Prashar told ANI that targeting actors was “very, very wrong,” saying the film industry exists to entertain the public. The Tiger Shroff firing case has once again put the spotlight on the safety of Bollywood celebrities, coming amid a string of threats to film personalities in recent months. The Mumbai Police’s investigation in the coming days is expected to determine whether the attack was the work of an organised gang or carried out at someone else’s behest.
