MAMA Awards 2026: Nominees, Date and How to Watch

The MAMA Awards 2026 are among the most-watched music award shows in Asia, celebrating the biggest names in K-pop and drawing a massive global audience — including a large and growing fanbase in Pakistan. Here is your complete guide to the event: when it happens, how nominees are selected, the key categories and how to watch.

What Are the MAMA Awards?

Presented annually, the MAMA Awards (formerly the Mnet Asian Music Awards) honour achievements in Korean popular music. The show is known for large-scale live performances, collaborations between artists and elaborate stage production, and it has expanded over the years into a multi-day event held at major venues in Asia.

MAMA Awards 2026: Date and Venue

The exact date and venue for the 2026 ceremony are announced by the organisers, CJ ENM, typically in the months leading up to the event. The awards have traditionally taken place in the final quarter of the year. Once the official announcement is made, this page will be updated with the confirmed date, venue and ceremony schedule.

How Nominees Are Chosen

Nominees are generally determined through a combination of chart performance, digital sales data, judges’ evaluation and, for select categories, fan voting. The organisers publish the official nominee lists and voting rules on the MAMA website and social channels. Readers should treat any “nominee list” circulating before the official announcement as unverified.

Key Categories to Watch

The ceremony typically includes Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year among its top honours, alongside genre awards, best new artist categories and fan-voted prizes. Performance stages — rather than just the trophies — are a major part of the show’s appeal, with special collaboration performances announced in the weeks before the event.

Pakistan’s Growing K-pop Fanbase

Korean pop culture has found a enthusiastic audience in Pakistan over the past decade, with fan communities organising streaming parties, dance covers and discussion groups around major comebacks and award shows. The MAMA Awards are a focal point of that fandom calendar — the rare occasion when the entire global K-pop audience watches the same stage at the same time. Pakistani fans typically follow the ceremony through official live streams and real-time social media discussion.

How to Watch in Pakistan

The MAMA Awards are usually streamed live through the organisers’ official digital platforms, including their YouTube channels, making the show accessible to international viewers without regional broadcast deals.
