Mahira Khan 2026: Upcoming Dramas, Movies and News
Mahira Khan is having one of the busiest years of her career in 2026, headlining the Green TV drama Mitti De Baway opposite Wahaj Ali while lining up a major Eid film, Pakistan’s first Netflix original series and a telefilm. The star’s packed slate spans films, television and streaming platforms, and early reactions to her new drama suggest she is set to dominate the entire year ahead.
Mahira Khan’s Mitti De Baway: Drama Schedule and Cast
Mitti De Baway premiered on 23 September 2026 on Green TV and airs at 8 PM every Wednesday and Thursday. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Wajahat Hussain, the drama marks the first on-screen pairing of the star and Wahaj Ali. She plays Bilqees Bano (Billo), with Wahaj as Iqbal Channan (Baala), supported by an ensemble including Sohail Ahmed, Noor ul Hassan, Amar Khan, Uzma Hassan, Junaid Khan, Samia Mumtaz and Faryal Mehmood.
Set in rural Punjab, the period story opens in 1999 as Billo and Baala fall in love, are separated when Baala is imprisoned, and reunite years later transformed — Billo as a pir, or spiritual guide, with a following of her own. The drama’s trailers generated strong excitement across the industry, and the first episode drew enthusiastic reviews from viewers, with many calling it a confirmed blockbuster. Ahead of the premiere, the lead actress shared an emotional note for director Wajahat Hussain, thanking him for believing in Billo and understanding the character deeply.
Earlier in 2026, the actress had a packed Eid ul Fitr. Aag Lage Basti Mein released in cinemas on Eid, reuniting her with Fahad Mustafa after Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad — the film is written and directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by Filmwala Pictures. She also featured in TV premieres of The Legend of Maula Jatt on Geo TV, Love Guru on ARY Digital and Neelofar on Hum TV.
Upcoming Projects: Netflix Series and Woh Ek Raat
Her streaming slate is headlined by Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, Pakistan’s first Netflix original series, in which she plays Rahat. The show features an ensemble including Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Ahad Raza Mir, Hania Aamir, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Maya Ali, and is expected to premiere in late 2026. She is also starring in Woh Ek Raat, an upcoming telefilm alongside Wahaj Ali, written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shehzad Kashmiri.
With a lineup spanning cinema, television and streaming, the star clearly leads Pakistan’s entertainment conversation this year. Her pairing with Wahaj Ali has emerged as one of the most talked-about on-screen collaborations of the season, and industry observers say the drama’s success has reaffirmed her position as the country’s biggest television star. She remains active on social media with 11.7 million Instagram followers, keeping fans engaged with behind-the-scenes updates.
From Humsafar to Bollywood: A Career in Review
Her rise began with Humsafar (2011), the drama that made her a household name across Pakistan and India, followed by acclaimed performances in Shehr-e-Zaat and Sadqay Tumhare. She crossed over to Bollywood with Raees (2017) opposite Shah Rukh Khan, and her film work includes Bol, Bin Roye, Ho Mann Jahaan and Superstar. Each project added a new dimension — from intense drama to commercial romance — building the versatility that underpins her 2026 dominance.
What keeps her at the top is selectivity: she takes on fewer projects than her peers but commits fully to each one. That discipline shows in Mitti De Baway, where her transformation from a lovesick young woman to a spiritual guide carries the drama’s emotional weight across two decades of story.
