Grand Theft Auto VI is finally in its launch month, and the GTA 6 release date is now closer than the entire wait fans endured between the first and second delays. With 17 days to go until 19 November 2026, Rockstar Games has kept its message simple: the date is set, the game is ready, and there will be no third delay.
The countdown: 17 days to November 19
The GTA 6 release date — Thursday, 19 November 2026 — has now held for almost a full year. Rockstar moved the game to that date on 6 November 2025, and every store page, earnings report and trailer since has repeated it. Rockstar’s own GTA VI page still says plainly “Coming November 19, 2026”, and Microsoft’s official Xbox listing continues to show the same date for Xbox Series X|S.
The mood around the launch shifted on 31 October, when the entertainment news account DiscussingFilm told its millions of followers that “GTA 6 officially releases THIS MONTH” — the post went viral and helped push the game to the top of Google’s trending searches in Pakistan. Days earlier, Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson had told gaming magazine Edge: “It’s ready.” While Rockstar has not formally announced that the game has gone gold, the studio’s October 15 launch trailer kept the November 19 date, and research firm Circana has recorded purchase intent of 29% among US console and PC gamers — the highest reading the firm has ever measured for any game.
GTA 6 preload opens on 12 November

Players who pre-ordered digitally will not have to wait for launch day to start downloading. GTA 6 preload begins at local midnight on 12 November 2026, a full week before the GTA 6 release date, on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The files stay encrypted on the console’s drive and unlock on November 19 — preloading is preparation, not permission to play early.
The preload window matters because GTA 6 is expected to be a very large download; unconfirmed reports drawn from PlayStation Store data have put the install size at around 210 GB, though Rockstar and Sony have not confirmed any figure. Anyone on a slower connection in Pakistan should start the download on the 12th rather than gambling on launch-day servers.
Retail buyers are covered too. Rockstar has confirmed that the boxed version ships as code-in-box — a download code rather than a disc — with retail shipping and pickup expected to begin on November 12 so physical buyers can preload as well. On Xbox, the codes are not region-locked; PlayStation’s guidance lists some regional redemption restrictions.
Who gets in first: region-by-region unlock times
GTA 6 will not unlock at the same moment everywhere. PlayStation Store listings across 63 countries and regions, analysed by the fan site GTA Vice and reported on 2 November, show the game unlocking at midnight local time in each region — meaning New Zealand players get in first, roughly 18 hours before North America, with unlocks spread across about 15 windows over 19 hours. Mexico and Central America appear to be last.
For players in Pakistan, the maths is straightforward: midnight in New Zealand on 19 November is 4:00 pm Pakistan time on 18 November. In the United States, the PlayStation Store lists 12:00 am Eastern on 19 November, so West Coast players can start at 9:00 pm Pacific on 18 November. These timings are drawn from store listings rather than an official Rockstar schedule, so they can still change — and on PS5, chasing an early unlock through another region’s store requires a second account, since PlayStation does not allow region changes on an existing one.
Price and editions: what GTA 6 costs
The Standard Edition is priced at $79.99 in the United States and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Regional pricing reported in early November lists £69.99 and £89.99 in the UK, €79.99 and €99.99 in the Eurozone, and ¥9,800 and ¥12,280 in Japan. Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026, and anyone buying before 20 November is eligible for the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus through the Rockstar Store.
What Rockstar has confirmed — and what it hasn’t
The confirmed facts around the GTA 6 release date are unusually stable for a game of this size. Launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only — there is no PS4 or Xbox One version, and Rockstar has announced no PC version. A reported first-quarter 2027 PC target rests on anonymous sources and has not been confirmed by the studio; Xbox has denied that GTA 6 will stream on PC via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The game’s score is being composed by the electronic duo Justice, announced on 29 October, and Take-Two’s earnings call on 9 November is the next official checkpoint before launch. Claims of a 2027 delay, renewed in late October coverage, have no confirmation behind them — the official record still says November 19, and Rockstar’s own countdown says the wait is nearly over.
