Avengers: Doomsday Teasers Bring Steve Rogers, Thor and Doctor Doom Together Ahead of 18 December Release

Avengers: Doomsday teasers have taken over the final stretch of Marvel’s countdown to the film’s release, and the latest clips explain why fans are talking about them. In the space of a few days, Marvel has shown the Fantastic Four throwing a first pitch at a baseball game, reunited Steve Rogers with Thor over a joke about a hammer, and sent the same message again and again: stand together.

The film arrives in cinemas on 18 December 2026, with tickets already on sale, and the new teasers are doing the job teasers are meant to do. They show just enough to excite fans, hold back the story, and leave the biggest questions unanswered. Here is what the new Avengers: Doomsday teasers actually show, what fans made of them, and what to watch for next.

A first pitch from another universe

The most talked-about clip aired during Game 1 of the World Series on 23 October 2026, between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers. It opens not in the Avengers’ world, but in the Fantastic Four’s home universe, at a retro ballpark presented as Ebbets Field, where an announcer welcomes Reed Richards to the mound for the ceremonial first pitch.

Pedro Pascal’s Reed, wearing a Brooklyn Dodgers cap, stretches his arm out to deliver the pitch, with the Thing standing nearby. Real baseball stars watch from the sidelines and react, including Freddie Freeman, Bryce Harper, Randy Arozarena, Jacob Misiorowski and Junior Caminero, with jokes about first pitches getting bigger and bigger. It is a playful crossover, and it works because it treats the Fantastic Four as part of the same big event as the game itself.

The clip was presented as a joint Marvel and Major League Baseball piece, and Marvel’s marketing team described the World Series as the biggest possible stage for it. For viewers who had waited months for new footage, though, the baseball setting was only the start of the teaser, not the whole of it.

Doom crashes the game

The mood changes when Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom arrives. Doom interrupts the baseball scene, and later footage in the same promotional run shows him in control of Sentinels, the mutant-hunting machines familiar from X-Men stories. It is a short, sharp reminder of who the film’s villain is, and of how many different Marvel worlds his threat touches.

That is the point of the whole Doomsday build-up. The film brings together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and the Wakandans against a threat tied to the collapse of the multiverse, with Doom at the centre of it. The teasers do not explain how those groups meet, or why Doom is moving against them now. They only establish the scale: this is not one team’s fight.

For fans, the Doom moments have landed better than almost anything else in the new clips. Even viewers who felt the World Series spot was light on new material praised the fresh look at Doom, and the way the villain’s arrival instantly raises the stakes of an otherwise light-hearted baseball scene.

Steve, Thor and the hammer joke

The heart of the World Series teaser is a reunion. Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor trade jokes about Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, in what looks like the New Avengers Tower. The joke works because of history: Steve last lifted Mjolnir in the final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, and the question of whether he still can is a neat shorthand for where the old Captain America now stands.

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man gets a joke of his own, caught unsure whether to call Steve or Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson “Cap”. It is a small moment, but it tells viewers something useful about the film’s team: there is more than one Captain America in the room, and the film knows it. Quick shots then show Sam’s Avengers team, the X-Men and the Wakandans, alongside a further appearance from Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi.

None of this gives away the plot. It is character comedy first, and it is deliberately light. After years of heavy multiverse storytelling, the teasers lean on the relationships fans already care about, rather than on explaining timelines or alternate worlds.

The “Stand together” teasers

Marvel followed the World Series spot with two shorter pieces built around the same message. A 30-second television spot released the day after put Thor front and centre, with the God of Thunder warning that Doom will tear this world apart and urging the heroes to team up and stand together.

Then, on 25 October, Marvel Studios shared a short teaser carrying the two-word message “Stand together”. It opens on a stormy, darkened battlefield lit by lightning, with a cloaked silhouette in the foreground, before closing with the reminder that Avengers: Doomsday arrives in cinemas on 18 December and that tickets are available now. Another version of the same push opens on a close-up of Steve Rogers, lit by a cold blue glow, with his longer hair and full beard standing out against the clean-cut soldier fans first met years ago.

The short teaser quickly passed two million views on X, according to reports of its early performance. That is not a box-office forecast on its own, but it shows how much attention even a few seconds of new Doomsday material now attracts, less than two months before release.

What the teasers do — and do not — reveal

Fans have been divided, and honestly so. Some viewers were underwhelmed by the World Series preview, saying it recycled footage they had already seen and offered only a few seconds of genuinely new material. Others praised the comedy, the Doom moments and the Steve and Thor reunion, and argued that a teaser is supposed to tease, not to summarise the film.

Both reactions are fair, because the teasers are carefully limited. They confirm the key players and the central message, but they do not show the film’s main action set pieces, explain Doom’s plan, or reveal how the different teams come together. Viewers hoping for a full trailer will still be waiting. Viewers who enjoy spotting details, on the other hand, have plenty to work with, from the Ebbets Field setting to the Sentinel shots and the hammer joke.

That restraint is also a marketing choice. With tickets already on sale and the release date fixed, Marvel does not need to sell the film’s story yet. It needs to keep the film in front of people every day until December, and a steady run of short, shareable clips does that better than one long trailer dropped months early.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in cinemas on 18 December 2026. Tickets are on sale now through the usual cinema booking outlets, and Marvel has been pointing fans to ticket sellers in every new teaser post. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, returning to the Avengers after Endgame, and it is positioned as the biggest Marvel event film of the year.

What comes next is likely more of the same pattern: short television spots, social-media teasers and possibly a longer trailer closer to release, each adding a few seconds of new footage at a time. Fans should watch for any clip that shows the teams actually fighting together, rather than joking together, since that will be the first real sign of how the film’s central battle is staged.

For now, the message of the campaign is clear, and it is printed on the teasers themselves. Different heroes, different worlds, one threat — and, in Marvel’s words, a call to stand together.
