Mbappe’s late winner and what it means for LaLiga
The decisive moment of the El Clasico 2026 result came in the 87th minute. Real Madrid broke at speed, Eduardo Camavinga burst in behind the Barcelona defence, and he laid the ball across goal for Mbappe to finish into an open net for his second goal of the night.

What comes next for Barcelona and Real Madrid
Barcelona must now respond to their first league defeat. Flick’s side have set a very high standard with nine straight league wins, and one defeat does not undo that work, but the champions will know that their defensive organisation and their handling of fast counter-attacks were exposed in this match.
The next Clasico is a long way off, but this El Clasico 2026 result will echo until then. Barcelona lost their perfect record, Real Madrid closed the gap, and Mbappe, with two goals in the biggest match of the season so far, delivered the performance that decided it.
