Punjab University Admission: Important Dates for 2026

According to the university’s official admission notice for 2026–27, the online admission portal opened on 2 July 2026 at admissions.pu.edu.pk, and applicants are required to fill in and submit their forms online before the announced deadline for each programme. The PU Admission Test — a separate registration — had its online registration deadline on 25 May 2026, and scores from last year’s test are explicitly not valid for new admissions. The test is held in major cities across Pakistan, with the detailed syllabus and centre list published on the admission test portal.

Departments, institutes and centres advertise their own merit lists separately after the closing date, and the Gujranwala, Jhelum and Potohar campuses follow the same schedules and regulations as the main Lahore campus. Keep checking the official website regularly, because each discipline releases its first, second and third merit lists on its own timetable.

PU Admission Test 2026: Fee and Pattern

The PU Admission Test carries a registration fee of Rs. 2,500, payable through HBL, UBL or mobile banking via 1Bill, and the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Applicants must upload proof of payment on the portal to complete registration. The test has separate categories for engineering, medical/pharmacy, computer science, business and other streams, with the marks breakup for each category published on the test portal.

Special rules apply to professional programmes. For engineering programmes at PU, the PU Admission Test is mandatory under PEC regulations, though ECAT (UET) or NUST test scores are also acceptable. Both the LAT and the PU Admission Test are mandatory for LLB, an aptitude/drawing test applies for the College of Art & Design, and either MDCAT or the PU Admission Test is valid for Pharm-D. Note that candidates seeking reserved-seat quotas must select their quota category in the online form — no application can be converted to another category or discipline after submission.

Fee Structure for Undergraduate Programmes 2026–27

The official 2026–27 dues schedule shows a wide range. Admission dues for semester one fall between roughly Rs. 15,750 for language and social-science programmes and Rs. 55,000 for high-demand programmes such as FCIT’s Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Pharm-D and LLB admissions stand at Rs. 55,000, engineering programmes at around Rs. 42,790, BBA at the Hailey College of Banking and Finance at the same band, and most business, commerce and science programmes between Rs. 29,950 and Rs. 42,790.

A separate admission application processing fee of Rs. 550 applies, paid into the designated HBL or UBL accounts. Incomplete applications — or forms from candidates who miss the fee deadline — are not entertained, so upload your fee proof and documents carefully.

How to Apply Online Step by Step

The Punjab University admission process is straightforward if you follow the official steps. Register on the admission portal with your mobile number and email, fill in the online admission form for your chosen discipline, and generate the Rs. 550 challan. Pay it at any HBL or UBL branch or through mobile banking, then upload a scanned copy of the deposited challan and complete the final submission.

Apply separately for morning, evening, replica, self-supporting and reserved-quota seats — one form cannot serve two categories. Subject-wise eligibility criteria appear in the online form and on the university website while you fill it out. After submission, shortlisted candidates must produce original documents including the matric certificate, FSc certificate or equivalent, domicile, medical fitness certificate and photographs; originals are retained by the university until deemed necessary.

Merit Lists and Selection

Merit lists are compiled by each department using its announced formula, and corrections or queries are entertained only up to a specified date and time — after that, no additions or updates are accepted. The university reserves the right to rectify typographical or clerical errors. Selected candidates collect their bank challan for admission dues from the department office after handing over original testimonials, then deposit dues and receive their class roll number.

Because the Punjab University admission cycle moves fast once lists are out, prepare your documents now: paid challan slip, certificates, domicile, fitness certificate and two passport photographs. Students who have studied entry-test patterns from the 25 May 2026 cycle have the best chance in the 2026–27 lists. For the official fee PDF and admission guidelines, see the university’s published 2026–27 dues schedule and the undergraduate admission instructions.
