BYD Denza N8 EV to Launch on 12 November With 1,003 km Range and 1,193 hp

BYD’s luxury brand Denza has confirmed the launch date for its new N8 electric SUV. The five-seat Denza N8 EV will be unveiled on 12 November 2026 at an event in Shenzhen, China, after pre-orders opened on 26 October. The headline figure is a claimed driving range of up to 1,003 kilometres on a single charge — a number that would make it one of the first mass-production battery-electric SUVs to cross the 1,000 km mark.

The launch was announced on Denza’s Weibo page on Friday 6 November, and confirmed by Denza general manager Li Hui, who said early pre-order results had been “excellent” and called the N8 “definitely the most anticipated luxury SUV of the year”. The company has not announced prices yet, but the specifications alone put it among the most powerful and longest-range electric SUVs announced this year.

The headline range comes from the larger of two battery options. The top version uses a 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, giving a claimed range of up to 1,003 km under China’s CLTC test cycle. A smaller 105.79 kWh battery version is rated at up to 800 km. The figures come from regulatory filings published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Two points matter for readers. First, CLTC is a Chinese laboratory test cycle, and its figures usually read higher than the European WLTP or American EPA standards for the same car — so real-world range on the road will be lower than 1,003 km. Second, the figure is still a milestone: it matches the combined range of the N8 plug-in hybrid this model replaces, which needed a full tank of petrol plus a full charge to reach 1,003 km. The new N8 EV claims the same distance on electricity alone.

1,193 hp from three motors — and a 429 hp rear-wheel-drive version

The most powerful Denza N8 uses a tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup on BYD’s e3 platform. A 270 kW front motor works with two 310 kW rear motors for a combined output of 890 kW — about 1,193 horsepower. That puts the family SUV in the performance bracket of dedicated sports cars, even though it is built as a five-seat luxury vehicle.

A rear-wheel-drive version will also be offered, with a single motor producing either 320 kW (429 hp) or 370 kW (496 hp). The N8 measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,820 mm high, with a 3,075 mm wheelbase — slightly longer than the Kia EV9 and the Hyundai IONIQ 9, two of the large electric SUVs it will compete against.

Five minutes of charging for 10 to 80 per cent

The Denza N8 also features BYD’s latest Flash Charging technology. According to the company, the battery can recharge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just five minutes, and from 10 per cent to 97 per cent in nine minutes. If those figures hold in real use, a charging stop for the N8 would take less time than a cup of tea — one of the biggest practical barriers to long electric journeys.

Charging speed matters because a 1,003 km range is only useful if the battery can be refilled quickly when it does run low. BYD pairs the fast charging with its second-generation Blade Battery, the lithium iron phosphate pack the company builds in-house.

A luxury cabin — and what it means for Pakistan

Inside, the five-seat SUV features a 30-inch infotainment screen that spans nearly the entire passenger-side dashboard, plus a new 43-inch panoramic head-up display at the bottom of the windscreen. Premium features include zero-gravity seating in all rows, a three-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone chargers and ambient lighting. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor supports BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 driver assistance system, and the car uses the company’s DiSus-A intelligent air suspension.

BYD has not announced prices for the Denza N8 EV. Reports suggest it will likely cost slightly less than the N8L, an extended version that starts at 299,800 RMB — around 45,000 US dollars. Denza is offering a limited-time promotion of a 5,000 RMB credit for buyers who place a reservation with a 2,000 RMB deposit.

For Pakistan, there is no launch date or price confirmed yet. BYD already sells in Pakistan through its local partner Mega Motor, with models such as the Atto 3 on sale, but Denza has no confirmed Pakistan plans in the announcements so far. Pakistani buyers interested in the N8 should wait for an official announcement rather than relying on grey-market listings. The launch event takes place on 12 November at 7pm Beijing time at BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen, where prices and delivery dates are expected to be confirmed.
