Pakistan Weather Update: Forecast for Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar

This Pakistan weather update brings together the latest from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for the country’s four biggest cities. The short version: the unsettled spell that brought rain and hail to the upper parts of the country is ending, most areas turn dry, and the plains stay warm — but Islamabad and Peshawar could still see a passing shower. Here is the city-by-city picture for Thursday, 15 October 2026.

NDMA’s Rain and Hail Advisory Ends Today
The week’s biggest weather story has been the NDMA advisory issued on 9 October, which warned of rain, wind, thunderstorms and isolated hail across upper and central Pakistan from 10 to 15 October. A westerly wave — a weather system moving in from the west — drove the unsettled spell, with the main rain days in Punjab and Islamabad falling on 10, 11, 13 and 14 October. Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar were all named in the advisory, along with Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
As that window closes, the forecast turns drier. PMD now expects dry weather across most of the country, with only isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms possible in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, the Pothohar region and northeastern Punjab during the evening and night. For the earlier spell, see our thunderstorm alert for Punjab and KP.
Karachi: Hot and Dry Continues
Karachi stays firmly in its autumn-warmth phase: a morning reading of 27°C, dry air, and afternoon highs in the mid-30s°C. Sea breezes keep evenings tolerable, but there is no rain on the horizon for the metropolis. If you are heading out midday, the usual precautions apply — water, shade and sunscreen.
Lahore: Warm With Clearing Skies
Lahore woke to 25°C and will warm to around 34°C under partly cloudy skies. The hail and thunderstorm risk that hung over Punjab earlier in the week has largely passed, though farmers should note PMD’s earlier caution about crop damage from the 10–14 October spell. Air quality in the Punjab capital typically worsens as autumn deepens, so sensitive groups should keep an eye on smog advisories.
Islamabad: The Coolest Capital Morning
Islamabad recorded 24°C this morning — the coolest of the four — and should reach about 27°C under mostly sunny skies, with around a 20% chance of a passing shower. The capital saw thunderstorm activity overnight, consistent with the tail end of the westerly wave. Evenings are turning genuinely pleasant, with lows dipping toward 16°C.
Peshawar: Sunny and Settled
Peshawar is enjoying the most settled weather of the four cities: 23°C this morning, a sunny 28°C this afternoon, and clear, comfortable nights. The extended wet spell Khyber Pakhtunkhwa endured from 10 October is over, and the coming days look dry and stable — good news for the province after a turbulent week.
The Week Ahead
Beyond today, the pattern favours dry, stable autumn weather for most of Pakistan, with warm afternoons in the plains and increasingly cool nights in the north. The longer-range question is winter: PMD’s seasonal outlook and the developing El Niño will shape how cold — and how wet — the coming months get.
