OnePlus 16 — specs, price in Pakistan and launch date explained

The OnePlus 16 is official — launched in China on 12 October 2026 and on sale there from 13 October — and it is one of the most aggressive flagship launches of the year: a 9,000mAh battery, a 200MP main camera, Qualcomm’s fastest phone chip yet, and a display that pushes refresh rates to 185Hz. The catch for Pakistani buyers: there is no confirmed Pakistan launch or price yet. Here is everything verified so far, and what it means for a possible Pakistan arrival.

Performance: The Fastest Chip in a Phone

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is Qualcomm’s new flagship silicon, built on a 2nm process with peak clock speeds crossing 5GHz for the first time in a phone chip. OnePlus pairs it with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, plus a new Glacier vapour chamber the company claims cools 40% better than before — a claim worth treating cautiously until independent tests land. The OnePlus 16 is the third phone to ship with this chip, after the iQOO 16 and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.

200MP Camera: A Big Jump on Paper

The headline camera upgrade is the 200MP Samsung HPE main sensor (1/1.4-inch, optical stabilisation), joined by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto, with a 50MP front camera. That is a major leap from the OnePlus 15’s 50MP main camera. OnePlus’s LUMO image engine handles colour and light rendering, and video goes up to 8K at 30fps. As ever with megapixel counts, real-world testing will decide whether photo quality follows the spec sheet.

9,000mAh Battery and 185Hz Display

The 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is up from 7,300mAh on the OnePlus 15 — one of the largest in any flagship. Charging is 100W wired and 50W wireless (wired is actually down from the OnePlus 15’s 120W). The 6.78-inch flat OLED runs at 165Hz by default and 185Hz in supported games, which should delight mobile gamers. Native 185fps play is claimed in titles including Game for Peace, Valorant Mobile and Arena Breakout.

OnePlus 16 Price in Pakistan: What to Expect

There is no official Pakistan price yet, because there is no confirmed Pakistan launch. In China, the phone starts at CNY 5,999 (about Rs 86,000 in Indian rupees, for reference) for the 12GB+256GB model, rising to CNY 8,499 for the 16GB+1TB top variant — roughly 50% more than the OnePlus 15’s China launch price, a jump widely blamed on rising memory and chip costs across the industry.

If and when it reaches Pakistan, expect a premium-flagship price tag well above the OnePlus 15’s local pricing, plus PTA mobile tax on imported units. Our advice: wait for an official Pakistan announcement rather than trusting grey-market “expected prices” floating around social media. Track the market on our mobile prices in Pakistan 2026 page and the mobiles hub.

Launch Date: China Done, World Waiting

The China launch event took place on 12 October 2026, with open sales from 13 October through Oppo’s online store. A global launch — including India and potentially Pakistan — is rumoured for late December 2026 or January 2027, but OnePlus has not confirmed anything. Note the context: OnePlus said earlier this year it would stop launching new phones in North America and Europe, making the OnePlus 15 its last flagship there. Whether Pakistan gets the 16 through official channels or only via importers remains to be seen.

Should You Wait for It?

On paper, the OnePlus 16 is a beast: the fastest chip, the biggest battery in its class, a 200MP camera and a 185Hz display. The concern is price — the China hike suggests it will not be the “flagship killer” bargain OnePlus was once famous for. If you need a phone now, the Moto G37 and current flagships on our price list offer better value today; if you want the cutting edge, waiting for official Pakistan news is the smart play.

Specs and pricing above are per the China launch as reported by Gadgets360. Follow our Technology section for the Pakistan launch the moment it is confirmed.
