PTA Approved vs Non-PTA Note
iPhones in Pakistan are overwhelmingly imported units, and PTA registration through the DIRBS system is mandatory for full network use. Official-warranty (PTA-approved) stock costs more because the price includes import duties and taxes — a non-PTA grey import of the 16 Pro Max can be tens of thousands cheaper upfront, but you must pay the PTA tax and register the IMEI yourself, or SIM services stop after about 60 days. Given how much even a discounted 16 Pro Max costs, buying a PTA-approved unit with official warranty is the safer route — it also protects resale value when you eventually upgrade.

Launch Context
Apple launched the iPhone 16 Pro Max in September 2024 as its first iPhone with a 6.9-inch display, a dedicated Camera Control button and the A18 Pro chip with Apple Intelligence support. It was also the first iPhone to put a 48MP sensor on the ultrawide camera and to bring the 5x tetraprism telephoto to the Max model. A year on, it remains a thoroughly modern flagship: the A18 Pro still flies through everything, the camera system is superb, and iOS 18/26 support will continue for years. Its main “weakness” in 2026 is simply that the iPhone 17 Pro Max exists — which is exactly why its price has become attractive.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Huge 6.9-inch 120Hz display — great for video, gaming and reading
- Excellent triple camera with genuine 5x optical zoom

- Now cheaper than every iPhone 17 Pro model
Cons:
- Superseded — the 17 Pro Max has a better chip, cameras and display coating
- 8GB RAM vs 12GB on the new Pros
- Large and heavy at 227g
- No charger in the box
Who Should Buy It?
The 16 Pro Max is ideal for buyers who want a true big-screen flagship but cannot justify iPhone 17 Pro Max money — you save around Rs 84,000 versus the 17 Pro Max 256GB while giving up surprisingly little in daily use. Content creators, PUBG and Genshin players, and anyone who keeps a phone for years will be happy. If you prefer a smaller phone, our iPhone 16 Pro price in Pakistan guide covers the 6.3-inch version. Where to Buy & Price Comparison Tips
iPhone 16 Pro Max Price in Pakistan: 16 Pro Max vs 17 Pro Max
The key question for anyone eyeing the iPhone 16 Pro Max price in Pakistan (Rs 480,999) is how much you sacrifice versus the iPhone 17 Pro Max (Rs 564,999). The generational upgrades are real but incremental: the 17 Pro Max moves to the A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM (versus 8GB), an all-48MP triple camera with longer 200mm telephoto reach, a brighter 3,000-nit display with anti-reflective coating, and 25W wireless charging. The 16 Pro Max keeps its titanium frame (the 17 switched to aluminium), the Camera Control button, a superb 5x periscope camera and the same 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED. In daily use — social media, photography, gaming, video streaming — the difference is modest; the 17 Pro Max mainly pulls ahead in heavy video editing, future AI features that need 12GB RAM, and outdoor screen visibility. Saving roughly Rs 84,000 by choosing the 16 Pro Max is entirely rational, especially since it will receive iOS updates for many years. Buy the 17 Pro Max only if you want the absolute latest or plan to keep the phone for five-plus years.
