Army Jobs 2026: How to Join as Officer and Soldier

Army jobs 2026 PMA long course and soldier recruitment guide

Army jobs 2026 are open right now through two live intakes on the Pakistan Army’s official recruitment portal: the 159 PMA Long Course for commissioned officers, with registration closing on 23 October 2026, and soldier recruitment, which remains open until 23 November 2026. Joining the Pakistan Army as an officer means two years of training at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul followed by a commission as Second Lieutenant — one of the most respected career starts in the country.

This guide covers the currently open intakes, the exact eligibility criteria for each applicant category, the physical standards, the selection stages from initial tests to the ISSB, and how to register online safely. The only official Army recruitment website is joinpakarmy.gov.pk — any other site asking for fees is a fraud.

Army Jobs 2026: Open Intakes and Dates

The active army jobs 2026 intakes, as listed on the official portal, are:

  • 159 PMA Long Course (commissioned officer): registration from 14 September to 23 October 2026. This is the main route to become a regular officer.
  • Recruitment as a Soldier: registration from 1 September to 23 November 2026.

The Medical Cadet Course and the Armed Forces Nursing Services entries for 2026 have already closed, and the Technical Cadet, Lady Cadet and Direct Short Service entries were not open at the time of checking. Graduates should note that there is no separate “graduate course” — it has been merged into the PMA Long Course, so bachelor’s degree holders apply through the same intake with a slightly higher age limit.

Eligibility for the 159 PMA Long Course

Eligibility for these army jobs 2026 varies by applicant category, so check your own bracket:

  • Nationality: male citizens of Pakistan, including domicile holders of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dual nationality holders must renounce the foreign nationality upon selection.
  • Age (on 1 May 2027): 17 to 22 years for Intermediate (FA/FSc) candidates; 17 to 23 for two-year graduates and serving Pakistan Navy/PAF personnel; 17 to 24 for four-year degree holders (BS, BA Hons, BBA, BPA); 17 to 25 for serving Army soldiers.
  • Education: minimum 60% marks in FA/FSc (55% for candidates from specified underdeveloped areas such as Balochistan, GB, Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Tharparkar and Rajanpur). Graduates need 60% in their degree with 50% in FA/FSc.
  • Marital status: unmarried, except married serving armed forces personnel above 20 years of age.
  • Physical standards: minimum height 5 feet 4 inches (162.5 cm), weight according to BMI, and vision as per the advertisement standards.

Candidates rejected twice by the ISSB or who have failed the initial tests three times are not eligible to apply again.

Selection Process: From Initial Tests to ISSB

The army jobs 2026 selection process is rigorous and runs in clear stages. First, initial tests are held at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs) — written and intelligence tests on a computer, an initial medical examination, physical tests and an interview. The physical standards include a 1.6 km run in 8 minutes, 15 push-ups in 2 minutes, 20 sit-ups in 2 minutes, 3 chin-ups and ditch crossing.

Candidates who clear the initial stage proceed to the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) at Kohat, Gujranwala, Malir or Quetta — a four-day assessment of psychological testing, group tasks and interviews. This is followed by a detailed medical examination at a Combined Military Hospital and a final decision by GHQ. Selected cadets then join PMA Kakul for two years of training before being commissioned as Second Lieutenants.

How to Apply for Army Jobs 2026

Registration is done online only, through the official portal:

  1. Open www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk and select the PMA Long Course (or soldier recruitment).
  2. Enter your personal details, CNIC or Form-B number, domicile and educational qualifications with percentages. If your result is awaited, select the “Result Awaited” option.
  3. Upload a recent passport-size photograph in formal dress against a blue or white background.
  4. Select your preferred test centre (AS&RCs are located in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit, Hyderabad, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Khuzdar and Pano Aqil) and submit the form.
  5. A few working days later, check “Registration Status” with your CNIC to download your roll number slip and fee challan, then deposit the fee at a National Bank of Pakistan branch.

Fraud warning: the Army’s only official website ends in .gov.pk. Anyone demanding fees through JazzCash, Easypaisa or a personal bank account is running a scam — the Army collects fees only through NBP challans. Report anyone promising a confirmed seat for money to the Join Pak Army help desk at 051-5686225.
